Over the summer, men from St. James UMC and Alpharetta First UMC participated in a 4-week bible study focusing on racial reconciliation that yielded the desire for further collaboration. With a continued desire to build on insight, empathy and create relationship, Mount Pisgah UMC has now joined the conversation to engage in a men’s summit bringing men of varied ethnicities and backgrounds together.

The purpose of this summit is to engage in difficult, yet important conversations focusing on race and reconciliation. Keeping Christ at the center, relationship building and cultivation of community is at the heart of this event. The summit will be a one-day virtual conference that will take you on a journey through reflection, repentance and reconciliation. As men, we believe we have the obligation to confront the ugliness that we are faced with every day. In order to do this effectively, a condemnation-free zone must be cultivated in which to engage truth. Trained facilitators will help guide discussion and support you through sharing personal stories, testimonies of pain and triumph as well as opportunities for learning and growth. Through this, we can manifest love and understanding and be an example in a world that so desperately needs light. Ultimately, we want to do a better job of living together in a community of Christ.
The day will be broken up into three main sessions. Each session will build upon the next resulting in a forward-action plan with tangible steps that you can take back to your families and communities.
Session 1 – Reflection: Taking a look at the past and the influences that have shaped perceptions and beliefs.
Session 2 – Repentance: Q&A with pastors from all 3 churches.
Session 3 – Revival: Re-imagining ways beloved community can be birthed through these trying times.
